This article makes an interesting point about Native Americans. It calls them “survivors of the highest order” because not only did they live off the land, they protected their resources and lived sustainably. They may not have had much in the way of technology, but there’s still a lot we can learn from them.
In particular, there are five skills we can learn from them: meat preservation, preserving animal skins, using plants for healing, reading nature’s signs, and stealth. That last one surprised me, but it makes sense. Their arrows could only reach so far, so they had to sneak up on game and enemies. It’s easy to see how this skill would be useful in a survival scenario.
